Luthiers Expo

We welcome back many of our esteemed luthiers to our fourth consecutive luthier showcase, an ever-popular event where our participants can meet their future luthiers, try their excellent hand-built guitars, and even buy one! Over the years we have welcomed luthiers from all over the world: The guitar shop of Johnson Strings, Stephan Connor, Joshia de Jonge, Jeroen Hilhorst, Alan Carruth, Bruno Boutin, Michael Anthony, Jeremy Clark, Steven Walter, Sergei de Jonge, John Slobod, Harris Musical Instruments, and nail specialist Miro Simic were at our 2014 event. We welcome back many of our luthiers and are looking forward to meet many more talented builders of the best instruments to be found.

Steve Connor

Connor Guitars are among the finest classical guitars available for the professional performer and student. These guitars excel in delivering outstanding power and projection while offering clarity and a beautiful voice. All this is coupled with an elegant classical aesthetic and custom options.

Jeremy Cooper

Jeremy Cooper Classical Guitars are built one at a time in his shop in Tucson, Arizona. His focus is on building true concert quality instruments that inspire and captivate their musicians in every aspect-craftsmanship, playability, aesthetics and most of all sonic quality with growling bases and little angels in the trebles.

Joshia DeJonge

Building a limited number of guitars a year allows me to focus all of my attention on each instrument. In every guitar I build, I aspire to achieve a sound structure with a clean clear tone. Most of all I hope that my instruments inspire the player.

Guo Guitars

Importer of doubletop concert guitars by the Chinese master luthier Yulong Guo and handmade student guitars by Calido.

Benoit Pierron

Benoit Pierron makes classical guitars in Lyon, France.
“You may find the look of my model unusual. Some may regard it as a rude interpretation of the Classical Guitar. Though, I warmly invite you to give it a chance to sing.”

Aaron Ringo

Wood Ring Guitars are made from the finest quality woods carefully selected for their unique beauty and sound characteristics. Each instrument is an outstanding work of art with tonal qualities designed to help each guitarist reach their full potential as a musician. Extreme care and craftsmanship is put into each guitar. Aaron Ringo, owner and luthier at Wood Ring Guitars, works with each instrument until he is able to coax a lavish, rich sound and unique beauty from it. Aaron’s goal is to provide you with an extremely high quality hand crafted guitar and related services for a very reasonable price. The process of creating a one-of-a-kind guitar tailor made to your requirements and specifications is a very personal journey of exploration and discovery. Aaron would be honored to be your guide in this adventure and will spend whatever time it takes to be sure you are completely satisfied. Aaron believes that the sound is the spirit of the instrument. Comfort, playability, and beauty are the body of the guitar. The player is the heart and mind. By coaxing out the best sound, comfort, playability and beauty in each guitar, he is able to give each player an outstanding instrument for expressing their musical talents.

Bruce Thompson

Bruce Thompson has been building guitars for almost 40 years. He specializes in classical and flamenco guitars, but also will build custom orders for laúdes and bandurrias (both traditional Spanish, paired-string “street band” instruments), and the occasional 12-string guitar. Several classical and flamenco guitars will be on display and for sale at the festival. Recently retired from his “day job”, he now has time to make this his regular work and is taking orders for next fall.

Steven Walter

To date Steven Walter has made over 140 classical guitars in addition to a clavichord, two lutes, a steel string guitar and an electric guitar. Most of these instruments have been sold to professional guitarists, students, and collectors. He has recently completed a new instrument workshop next to his home south of Asheville, NC, where he lives with his wife, mezzo-soprano Kristen Walter, and his two young sons, Tom and Sam.
