BOSTON GUITARFEST 2007 COMPETITION
 
Congratulations to the winners of Boston GuitarFest 2007 Competition
First Prize: Cristina Pérez Madiedo (Cuba)
Second Prize: Jérôme Mouffe (Belgium)

Latin American Prize: Scott Wolf (USA)
 
 
Registered participants in the guitar master classes of the GuitarFest will be eligible to enter the 2007 Boston GuitarFest International Competition, which will run concurrently with the Festival.  Those interested only in the competition may register separately as well.
 
Rules
Preliminary Round: Not to exceed 10 minutes. Must include at least one piece by Agustin Mangore Barrios, except La Catedral.

Semi-Final Round: Not to exceed 15 minutes. Must include at least one piece by Antonio Lauro.

Final Round: Not to exceed 25 minutes. Free choice. Set pieces from previous rounds may not be repeated.
 
Boston GuitarFest 2007 Competition Jury
 
Prizes
First prize: $2500, Concert in 2008, CD Recording (at discretion of the jury)
Second prize: $1500
Third prize: $500
Special Prize: Concert guitar by the acclaimed Argentinian luthier Arnoldo Garcia. (at the discretion of the jury)
Interpretation prize for Latin American music: $250
Interpretation prize for Rochberg Caprice Variations: $250 (At least 4 Variations must be performed)

Note Due to the intense interest in the Competition and the limited time available for the Preliminary Rounds, Boston GuitarFest reserves the right to limit the number of participants in the Competition.
 
Q: Can I just participate in the Competition without also attending the other events of the Festival?
A: Yes!  In that case the fee for entering the competition is $150.  Dormitory accomodation is available upon request.
 
Q: Can I participate in the Festival AND the Competition?
A: Of course! This is the ideal way to experience the Boston Guitar Fest.  The events of the Festival have been planned with painstaking care to make this an unforgettable week for anyone coming.  Anyone who registers as an active student at Boston GuitarFest is eligible to compete.
