Boston GuitarFest is pleased to announce the return of the Youth Competition, which this year consists of three divisions: a senior division (I) for high school students 15 to 17 years of age, a middle division (II) for students 11 to 14 years of age, and a junior division (III) for students 6 to 10 years of age. (All ages should be correct as of June 19, 2016.) The Youth Competition takes place from June 18 and June 19. For prizes, rules, and other details, consult the guidelines link below. Young Guitarists Workshop participants can enter the competition for free, but must also be available for YGW activities during the week. (If you are a YGW participant, the competition is INCLUDED in tuition, but you still need to register by e-mail. Contact Hank Mou at [email protected] to register for the competition in addition to YGW).

Composers of any age or nationality may apply. The winning composition will be performed at Boston GuitarFest 2017. In addition to the free 5-day registration to GuitarFest 2017, the winner receives a $1,000 prize, along with travel and lodging support to attend the performance. The Composition Competition is supported by the New England Conservatory of Music, the Northeastern University Department of Music, and a special $300 gift from Apostolos Paraskevas.
