Marco De Biasi

Musician, composer, and painter Marco De Biasi was born in 1977. He owes his musical education to maestros Stefano Viola and Paolo Pegoraro. He graduated in 1999 with top scores. In September 2000 he was forced to retire from giving concerts as a result of a neurophysiological disease called focal dystonia. Fortunately, between 2002 and 2003, after fourteen months of a motor rehabilitation program at the Institute of Physiology and Medicine of Art in Terrasa (BCN), he completly recovered. He continues to collaborate with this institute (www.institutart.com - www.fcart.org/distonia/).

In the years of concert inactivity he started to study musical composition, combined with pictorial research. Starting from Kandinsky’s theories and Klee’s writings, he created a phono-chromatic system, based on the relationship between sound and color. Many of his works are composed by the union of his paintings and his compositions. In 2007 he published his first album Fonocromie, featuring pieces written between 2004 and 2007 that have a recurring theme of the close relationship between sound vibration and the chromatic one.

In 2010, together with the painter Max Ciogli, he cofounded SINE, an art movement of synaesthetic synthesis, whose main goal is the investigation of the relationship between sound, color, and movement. In 2012 they published the artistic manifesto. After the foundation of this group, their research has also been used in therapy. In fact, through the National Deaf Institute in Rome, the artistic experiences of the group are merged to create a system that would allow deaf people to relate to the musical sound experience.

A part of his studies and works can be seen and consulted on his website, www.marcodebiasi.info.
