Artyom Dervoed

Artyom Dervoed was born in Rostov-on-Don (Russia) on 25th of October in 1981. He started playing a seven-string guitar when he was 6 years old under the direction of S. Annikov. A few years later he was retrained on a six-string guitar as a pupil of E. Svyatozarova in Orekhovo-Zuevo. In the early 1990s he continued his studies at the Shalyapin Music School in Moscow with L. Reznik. Artyom graduated at the private music school “Young Talents”, at the A. Shnittke Music College and at the Russian Gnesin’s Academy of Music in Moscow as a student of Professor Nikolay Komolyatov.

In 2005 he completed a fourth year of master-classes with Oscar Ghiglia at the Academia Chigiana in Siena (Italy). In 2007 Artyom finished post-graduate education in Russian Gnesin’s Academy of Music in Nikolay Komolyatov’s class. From 2006 he has continued post-graduate studies at the Koblenz Guitar Academy (Germany) with Aniello Desiderio. Artyom’s granted by Moscow authority, International Charity Foundation of Vladimir Spivakov and “Russian Performing Art” foundation.

Artyom Dervoed has won many awards in a series of important international competitions in Russia, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Japan, Israel, Malaysia and USA. Some of them:

• 1995, Moscow (Russia), International competition “Young Musicians” — 1st prize;
• 1996, Belgorod (Russia), All-Russian competition — 1st prize;
• 1999, Carpentras (France), International competition dedicated to Leo Brouwer — 1st prize;
• 2004, Cherepovets (Russia), International competition “Cup of the North” — 1st prize;
• 2004, Ile de Re (France), International competition — 1st prize;
• 2006, Alessandria (Italy), the 39 international competition “Michele Pittaluga” — 1st prize;
• 2006, Singapore international guitar competition — 1st prize;
• 2009, Toledo (Spain), the 18th international guitar competition “Infanta Cristina” – 1st prize;
• 2010, Buffalo (NY, USA), the JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition – 1st prize;
• 2010, Boston (MA, USA), Boston GuitarFest international competition – 1st prize;
• 2010, Iserlohn (Germany), international guitar competition – 1st prize.

In 2006, at the prestigious Michele Pittaluga Guitar Competition in Alessandria (Italy), Artyom became the first Russian winner during all forty-year history of competition, what gave him a great opportunity to reach powerful results in his international career.

In 2007 after the tour in Italy organized by management of competition, including appearance in Rome with Roma Philharmonic, Artyom recorded a debut CD with music of Russian composers on the world’s leading classical music label “Naxos”. Release took place in June 2008 and immediately got to the Naxos’s “Top 10 chamber music bestsellers”.
“If your current budget runs out to just a single item from the Naxos Laureate Series, make this the one.” – wrote well-known English magazine “Classical Guitar”.

In September 2007 Artyom received The Golden Guitar award at the International Guitar Convention in Alessandria, Italy, for the best up-and-coming guitarist.
Confirmation that Artyom Dervoed is brilliant musician of his generation, was victory at the one of the most prestigious international competitions «H.R.H. Princess Cristina», held in May 2009 in Toledo, Spain. Artyom got the 1st prize, public prize and once again became the first Russian received such a high award.

In November 2009 Artyom recorded his second CD in Madrid dedicated to Leo Brouwer’s 70th birthday.

During summer 2010 Artyom won two 1st prizes in USA: at the prestigious “JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition” performing “Aranjuez” concerto with Buffalo Philharmonic, where he also took the public prize; and at the “Boston GuitarFest”. And recently another 1st prize in Iserlohn (Germany), where he was awarded with Carnegie hall debut recital which is scheduled in February 2011.

Nowadays, Artyom Dervoed performs in all famous concert-halls in Moscow, such as Big, Small and Rachmaninoff’s halls of Moscow Conservatory, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Svetlanov’s hall of Moscow International House of Music, Gnesin’s hall etc. He performed in USA, France, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Serbia, Montenegro, Lebanon, Israel, Moldova, Armenia, Ukraine and many cities in Russia.

Artyom is collaborating with musicians such as Aydar Gainullin (button accordion, Russia), Yuri Medianik (button accordion, violin, bandoneon, Russia), pop-singer Eva Rivas (Armenia), Ivan Pochekin (violin, Russia) and with many orchestras in Russia and abroad: with Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (NY,USA), Roma Philharmonic orchestra (Italy), Philharmonic Orchestra of Conservatory named by A. Vivaldi (Italy), Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie (Germany), Beer-Sheva Sinfonietta Orchestra (Israel), State symphonic orchestra “New Russia”, Moscow City Symphony Orchestra “Russian Philharmonic”, with Ural, Volgograd, Saratov, Irkutsk, and Togliatti Philharmonics Symphonic Orchestras; with State Symphonic Orchestra of republic Tatarstan, State symphonic orchestra of Udmurt Republic, Tambov Symphonic Orchestra; with the Governor’s orchestra of Russian folk instruments (Vologda), with the National academic orchestra of Russian folk instruments named by N. Osipov, with the Academic orchestra of Russian folk instruments of Russian TV-Radio Company; with Chamber orchestras “Amadeus”, “Arco”, “Vivaldi”-Orchestra, State academic chamber orchestra of Russia, Chamber state orchestra of Small Theatre of Russia; Kazan State Chamber Orchestra “La Primavera” (Tatarstan Republic), “Sinfonietta K?ln”, “Amadeus Kammerorchester Dortmund” and “Ensemble del Arte” (Germany).

Artyom’s repertoire contains music from renaissance to the music written for him by contemporary composers, and over fifteen concertos with orchestra.

His performances were aired by TV and radio stations in different countries. During the on-line broadcast by Artyom’s recital – talk show in February 2009, 1500 visitors were registered.

Besides his career as a classical guitarist, Artyom devotes time to performing other styles of music, including new-metal, industrial, tango and electronic tango, both on the classical and the electric guitar. Since 1999 he works with “Dirty MoleculAs”, in 2007 he has joined a quartet “Emotion Orchestra” and “Nuestro tango orquesta” which is the first electronic tango project in Russia.

Since 2005 Artyom is running his guitar class at the Moscow State University of Culture & Arts.

From concert season 2010/2011 Artyom is the soloist of Moscow State Philharmonic Society.
